Maintain or Change Your Certification Status
Learn about the requirements needed to remain in good standing or change your status

Your certification will remain in Active status as long as you meet these requirements:
- CPE年度要求(20)
- Three-year Cycle CPE requirement (120)
- Annual maintenance fee payment
- Compliance with the Code of Professional Ethics
- Compliance with the annual CPE Audit, if selected
专利授权状态
Non-Practicing status will be granted to an active certification-holder if:
- You become unemployed or disabled (short-term or long-term)
- You’re no longer working in the field but considering a return
- Other extenuating circumstances if approved by the Certification Working Group
Non-Practicing status becomes effective on 1 January of the year you became unable to meet your CPE requirements, and you can maintain this status indefinitely as long as you continue to pay the annual maintenance fee. 回到活动状态:
- Fewer than two calendar years from the effective date of Non-Practicing status: Submit documentation of 20 CPE hours earned within the past calendar year
- Two+ calendar years from the effective date of Non-Practicing status: Submit documentation of 120 CPE hours earned within the past three consecutive years, and verify that you’ve returned to working in the field for at least one year by having a manager/supervisor/colleague sign the Verification of Work Experience Agreement section of the Certification Return-to-Active Application

Retired status is granted if you are:
- Over 55 and permanently retired from the profession
- Unable to perform specific job functions due to permanent disability
Your status becomes permanently effective on the day of your request, and you no longer need to earn CPE hours or pay the annual maintenance fee. Since this is a permanent status, you can only return to Active status by re-taking the exam and re-applying for certification.
What if my certification is revoked?
If you fail to comply with the CPE Policy, your credentials will be revoked and you can no longer present yourself as a certification-holder which will be reported as such on certification confirmation requests.
If your certification has been revoked due to non-compliance with the CPE Policy, you may appeal to be reinstated by written notification to the Certification Working Group. 将你的上诉提交给 客户体验中心 ,包括:
- A detailed explanation for the reinstatement request
- CPE documentation from the time of revocation to the current year
如果上诉被批准， you must pay any back and current certification maintenance fees needed to comply with the CPE policy before being reinstated. 另外, if the appeal was made more than 60 days after revocation, you must pay a $50 Reinstatement Fee.
If the appeal is not approved, returning to active will require re-taking the exam and re-applying for certification with the appropriate experience.
